Boys and Girls place 5th at Farragut Invitational

Timberlake hosted the second annual Farragut Invitational at Scott's Field in Farragut State Park on Saturday, and even with 3 Varsity athletes resting for the weekend, Sandpoint had a great meet and showed their depth. There were 13 full teams at the meet, and Sandpoint Boys and Girls Varsity each placed 5th, while both JV teams placed 4th.

In the boys race, Finan Lund-Andersen took 9th place out of 99 runners in his first race of the season after sitting out last week with the flu. He stormed the challenging 5k course in 16:52 to earn meet medalist honors. He was followed by Clay Rasummusen (17:38) in 23rd, Reilly Wolf (17:41) in 24th, and Cole Dillon (17:48) in 25th). Peik Lund-Andersen (18:41) was 47th for the last scoring spot. Ephraim Weisz, who has been a consistent top 5 for the team, was out resting a sprained ankle for the meet. The Boys JV placed 4th due to incredible team pack running. Story Crosset placed 11th out of 150 runner in 18:57, Gabe Merithew was 20th in 19:32, Hyrum Hunker 21st in 19:32, Garrett Pierce 24th in 19:34, Dutt Rogers in 25th in 19:34, and Wyatt Hagen was 27th in 19:40.

The Sandpoint girls also place 5th in the Varsity race, led by Junior Hannah Davidson who placed 15th out of 77 runner with a time of 21:10 to earn meet medalist honors. Also earned medalist honors was Niah Brass, who placed 19th in 21:23. Sharon Rowe was 23rd in 22:10, Farli Boden was 26th in 22:25, Dana Beaty was 34th in 22:34, and Chloe Braedt was 41st in a PR 22:58 for the girls. The girls were competitive with the Boise 5A schools, even with top 5 runners Katherine Kaul and Rainey Woodward out for the meet. The girls JV placed 4th in the meet, led by freshman Mesa Keating, who ran a PR time of 23:19 to place 8th out of the 70 runners. Paige Davidson was 15th in 23:58, Chloe Pierce was 17th in 24:06, Erin Meek 24th in 25:01, and Valerie Wickboldt was 33rd in 25:51 to round out the 5 scorers.


Sandpoint will be running again next Saturday, September 17th at Hayden Canyon.
