Sandpoint Girls win Lewiston Invite, Boys 4th

Saturday was a great meet for Sandpoint Track and Field. The girls took first place at the Lewiston Invite with a score of 147 points, and the boys placed fourth with 94. After months of snow and ice we were finally able to get some track time this past week and the results showed good improvement.

The Sandpoint girls had great results this weekend. Starting off with the field events, freshman Maddie Morgan jumped a PR 15' 9" to place first in the Long Jump, while Sharon Rowe jumped 14' 7" for 3rd. In the Pole Vault Hannah Davidson took first with a PR of 8'9", Sharon Rowe also took 2nd in the Triple Jump in 31', with Grace Bradley placing 3rd in 29'1". Elaine Huang was 3rd in the High Jump with a 4'4", and Victoria Aylward was 3rd in the Shot put in 29'7".

In the running events, the girls started out with a 2nd place in the 4x800 with the team of Corina Wallace, Chloe Pierce, Mesa Keating and Heather Wallace running a 11:37. Next came the girls mile, with Katherine Kaul placing second in a 5:30.24, Kali Scheel was 5th in 5:47 and Niah Brass 6th in 5:57. In the 400 Open, Dana Beaty was 2nd in 1:05.15, with Heather Yunek 6th in 1:08.31 and Paige Davidson at a 1:08.36 for 7th. Jaelyn Martin ran a 13.94 to place 6th in the 100 Open. In the 800 Open, Hannah Davidson cruised to the win in a 2:32, with teammate Kali Scheel placing 3rd in 2:38. Valerie Wickboldt was 5th in the 200 Open in 28.59. In the 3200 Heather Wallace was 2nd inthe 13:10, with teammate Chloe Braedt 6th in 14:15. Corina Wallace was the lone hurdler of the day, taking 8th in the 300s with a 57.31.

The girls 4x100 relay of Bailee Klopman, Jaelyn Martin, Val Wickboldt and Taitam Bowen ran well, placing 2nd in 53.65. The girls 4x400 also ran strong, with the team of Niah Brass, Dana Beaty, Katherine Kaul and Hannah Davidson winning the race with a 4:26.

For the boys field events, Sawyer Seley was 2nd in the High Jump with a 5'8" jump and Ammon Ollerton was 5th with 5'6", Slade Rucker was 2nd in the Pole Vault with a 11' 6" vault, Spencer Basssent won the Long Jump with a PR of 19'5.5", and Spencer also took 2nd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 40'7". Zach Alamillo was 4th in the Discus in 115'5", and 5th in the Shot with 39'7".

The boys relays did well at the meet, with the 4x100 team of Erik Suhr, Julian Barajas, Robbie Johnson and Spencer Bassett winning in a time of 45.92. The Sprint Medley team of Julian Barajas, Robbie Johnson, Teagan Dieter and Peik Lund-Andersen also won with at time of 4:01.08. The 4x800 team of Garrett Pierce, Gabe Christman, Kieran Wilder and Cole Dillong took 3rd in 9:36.73.

In the open running events, Finan Lund-Andersen was 7th in the 1600 Open, Robbie Johnson was 7th in the 200 in 24.62, Teagan Dieter was 4th in the 400 with a 56.13, with teammate Peter Soderberg 6th in 56.96. In the Open 800 Sloan Woodward was 7th with at 2:17.15, and Ephraim Weisz was 6th in the 3200 with a 10:36.


With Spring break starting next Friday, Sandpoint will not have a meet again until April 12th, when we host a quad meet.
