Form Quick Tips

  • Relax breathing with shoulders and arms.
  • Arm swing – smooth movement at sides of body, forward motion, not crossing center line.
  • Avoid wasted motion – sideways or unnecessary movement wastes energy.
  • Run tall! – leaning slightly forward - allows for full range of motion and efficient breathing.
  • Leg stride – driving motion forward with full range back kick as speed increases.
  • Foot strike – mid foot, up on your toes for your kick to the finish – remember heels are brakes and will slow you down!
  • Uphill running – lean forward, shorten stride, increase arm swing and stride frequency.
  • Downhill running – lean forward (gravity is a gift), increase stride frequency to avoid braking motion with heels.
  • Positive Thoughts – remember the mind-body connection, concentrate – relaxed and fast!
